Everyone loves a peek behind the scenes at artist and designer studios and creative spaces. I’ve been here at The Nest for almost a year now and I think I’ve well and truly settled in. I’ve set up one side of my space for design and in recent weeks the other side for art. With my faithful ol’ embroidery chair in the corner under the papier-mâché up-cycled cloud I made for a Holly Chalmers window a few years back.
As you can see I’ve got a lot of graphic design process stuck all over my walls! It’s been a busy year with some great new clients, such as Parramatta City Council and recently George Clinical. I’ll be updating my portfolio over the new year so stay tuned for that. I’ve also worked with some talented small businesses and creative freelancers – including a fantastic local band. Really looking forward to some new projects pencilled in for the new year. I’ve been busier than usual for this time of year, but I’ll be winding down from next week till just after New Year for some personal art time.
As you can see I’ve already started a few experiments and hung inspiration over my art desk. It’s great having a dedicated space both physically and mentally. Recent experiments have been with marbling on fabric (delightfully messy and unpredictable) and testing various mediums on fabric. I’ve got some ideas almost fully percolated in my mind. Should be some interesting new directions to my embroidery work in 2017!
And don’t forget – you can meet ME this Thursday at our studio Xmas POP UP. All the details here. See you there!
