I was commissioned by Kaleidoscope Focus to design the branding and visual identity for R4NED, a service that supports NDIS Providers and Participants in preparing for, managing, and recovering from emergencies and disasters.
The brief was to create a logo and visual system that reflected Kaleidoscope’s hallmark “out-of-the-box thinking” while remaining grounded in the serious, practical nature of R4NED’s mission. The final logo is a geometric variation of a cube — a nod to structured support, modular preparedness, and Kaleidoscope’s own identity. Triangles and cubes became foundational elements across the design system, guiding the structure of all accompanying graphics.
The colour palette draws from Kaleidoscope’s existing branding but was carefully adjusted to ensure full accessibility for the web. The three core colours represent the primary focus areas of Fire, Flood, and Pandemic, and a secondary tonal palette supports broader graphic use, especially where contrast or legibility is required.
To complement the logo, I developed a suite of custom illustrated elements to symbolize the key emergency themes. These were designed to scale across uses, from detailed infographics to bold, background illustrations. Font selection was also done in collaboration with the web designer, opting for Inter, a highly legible and accessible Google font aligned with the inclusive nature of the project.
This project was a deep collaboration between design, accessibility, and purpose — helping translate complex emergency readiness information into a visual language that’s clear, inclusive, and actionable.
